Equipment & Facility Maintenance Tech

Job Summary: Performs repairs and maintenance on mill equipment, heavy equipment, heavy truck equipment, light service equipment, and light trucks. Typical repairs include, but are not limited to, preventative maintenance inspections, milling equipment, hydraulic, fuel, exhaust, brakes, suspension, heavy duty electrical, vehicle electrical, and emission systems.

Everyday Job Duties:  

• Maintains knowledge to diagnose and repair mechanical problems on mill equipment, heavy duty electrical equipment, heavy equipment, heavy truck equipment, light service equipment, and light trucks.

• Performs repair or preventative maintenance on milling equipment, electrical equipment, diesel and gasoline vehicles, including tractor, excavator, wheel loader, and other vehicles to maximize safe and productive operations. Typical repairs and maintenance would include work on mills, conveyors, electric motors, drives, hydraulic components, engines, transmissions, chassis, drive-lines and body components, hydraulic, brake, electrical and suspension systems, wheels, tires and undercarriages.

• Reads and interprets equipment condition reports and/or repair orders, communicate with supervisor and/or operator for clarification of defects and discuss preventive techniques with operators to minimize future repairs.

• Completes paperwork associated with repairing equipment, documenting parts usage and accounting for applied times.

• Follows all safety policies and procedures.

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: 

• High school diploma or G.E.D. Ability to speak and wright in English.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technician position requiring knowledge and application of OSHA Haz Com; OSHA Lock Out Tag Out and all OSHA Fire Protection regulations.

• Minimum of 5 years of prior experience as a technician working on manufacturing equipment, heavy duty electrical equipment and/or heavy duty diesel equipment, demonstrating the ability to service increasingly more challenging maintenance repairs.

• Minimum of 5 years of prior welding and/or fabrication skills and/or experience.

• Basic computer skills as demonstrated by knowledge of and ability to use MS Excel and word processing applications.

• Valid Class A Commercial driver license. (If presently not held, may obtain within six-months of hire date)

 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Feed mill or manufacturing facility maintenance.

• Mechanical Trade School certificate or degree.

• Certificate in electrical diagnostics (vehicles and facility).

• Ability to speak Spanish.

 

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

• Knowledge in air brakes, tires, experience as a technician working on heavy trucks and equipment.

• Training in hydraulics.

• Electrical training on facility, heavy trucks and equipment.

 

The pay rate is $20-$27 per hour, DOE.
