Every breed of horse, horse discipline and how your horse lives from day to day dictates how they should be fed. Yet we all do the same thing, we feed flakes of forage and sometimes add vitamins.
Elk Grove Milling's Stable Mix is a complete pellet, meaning that it contains enough fiber (max 32%) when fed as directed it can safely replace the other sources of forage in your horse’s ration. Stable Mix also contains almond hulls, a form of super fiber that provides more calories to your horse than hay, but in a safer form than grains. Almond hulls, like hay, are digested in your horses hindgut.
If your horse is in moderate or heavy work or is a senior and needs a higher level of protein in the diet please check out our Sport Horse Mix and Senior Stable Mix. Soybean meal is included as a source of quality protein high in essential amino acids.
Unlike hay, Stable Mix comes with all the necessary vitamins and minerals to insure that all of your horse’s nutritional needs are met. We don’t just use any minerals we use Zinpro Performance Minerals. These patented organic minerals are unique in the market place. For more information on Zinpro minerals visit their website at www.zinpro.com
Stable Mix™ with Glucosamine & Chondroitin

If you have a horse with arthritis, or you are concerned about him developing arthritis, consider Stable Mix with Glucosamine and Chondroitin. Arthritis causes the cartilage surrounding joints to wear thin and degrade.
Glucosamine is a precursor to the synthesis of collagen and glucosaminoglycans (GAGs) found in joint cartilage. Studies have shown that glucosamine provided orally accumulates in cartilage and is detectable in synovial fluid. Other research suggests that glucosamine works best in combination with chondroitin and so we have included both.
You must feed a minimum of 6 lbs per day to a 1000 lb horse to get the benefit of the glucosamine and chondroitin.

Stable Mix Futurity™ Coming Soon!
Stable Mix Futurity is a complete, forage based pelleted feed specially formulated for your developing horse in training. Young horses face major dental changes as permanent teeth are erupting which can cause discomfort and difficulty chewing. These issues in conjunction with growing bones and high energy demands can cause your horse to come across as fussy during training. Stable Mix Futurity was formulated to address these challenges and keep them focused. Futurity supplies energy from a higher fat content but does have limited molasses and high quality oats, adding the energy they need without the extra sugars. Futurity features a small 5/32" easy to chew, smaller pellet making sure your young horse is able to consume the nutrition he needs to maintain body condition and energy. Futurity can also be soaked into a mash. The addition of prebiotics, probiotics and other premier Alltech ingredients supports the young horse's immune system and healthy gastrointestinal system. Keeping young horses healthy and happy during training creates a more positive environment for them to grow and learn.
Senior Stable Mix™

For those special friends who have entered their golden years Senior Stable Mix is formulated to meet the particular challenges they face. Research has shown that senior and geriatric horses are less able to absorb protein and for this reason our Senior Stable Mix provides a minimum of 13.5% crude protein, 4.5% more than the standard Stable Mix.
Because they also have a reduced capacity for absorbing minerals, Senior Stable Mix utilizes Zinpro’s premier organic performance minerals.
One of the most common challenges with managing senior and geriatric horses is maintaining body weight and condition. Utilizing forages can be a challenge due to poor dentition as well as a reduced capacity to digest forage. Pellets reduce the need for chewing, a real bonus for seniors with poor teeth.
Additionally the Senior Stable Mix pellets include, not only almond hulls, but also a second super fiber; beet pulp. Together these fibers help provide your senior horse with an easily digestible and safe form of energy.
The level of rice bran is increased in the Senior Stable Mix pellet which results in an overall higher fat content (3.5%) than the original Stable Mix. Fat is easily digested and a safer energy source than grains, especially for those senior horses with cushings disease or who are insulin resistant.

Horses in moderate work have a higher calorie and protein requirement and their bodies are subject to stresses that idle horses are not subjected to. Sport Horse Mix supports the moderately working horse regardless of discipline.
Energy levels in Sport Horse Mix are elevated through the use of fat from rice bran and copra meal, not grain. This maintains a low nonstructural carbohydrate (NSC) level (<15%) and reduces the risk of hot and fizzy behavior often associated with elevated NSC. Copra meal provides cool energy from coconut oil, a saturated fat. Saturated fats have been shown to spare muscle glycogen in horses, the important storage form of glucose. Additionally copra meal is high in the amino acid glutamine which helps support healing of gut tissue, an important benefit for performance horses at greater risk of developing gastric ulcers.
As a complete feed, Sport Horse Mix is high fiber (28%) and is formulated to be fed without additional hay in the ration. Unlike hay, when fed as directed, Sport Horse Mix will provide your horse with all the necessary vitamins and minerals insuring a balanced mineral profile for health and performance.
To support your horse’s hooves Sport Horse Mix provides biotin which research has shown will improve hoof health when used long term.

Properly feeding your chickens gives them the nutrition they need in order to lay quality eggs. Your feed should also focus on optimizing your chicken’s health. Our Elk Grove Milling Coop Mix is specially formulated with premiere ingredients to support your chickens and help them reach their natural potential.
Laying hens have special nutritional needs. In order to produce quality eggs, hens need extra calcium. Though hens have calcium reserves, they can become easily depleted and result in weak eggshells. If the calcium reserves become too depleted, the hen could stop producing eggs entirely.
It is important to feed high quality layer feeds that will cater to your hen’s nutritional and laying needs. The average hen needs 5 oz. of feed and 10 oz. of water to produce 1 egg.
Coop Mix Layer Pellet is produced in a medication free facility.
