MY EGM STORY
Although my story isn’t one of those terribly
dramatic examples of how your products have helped me achieve
my Olympic dreams or win the Triple Crown, perhaps it can
serve to illustrate the potential success an average horse
owner can have under a variety of circumstances.
I’ve had horses for a long time and until recently,
they have been under the care of boarding facilities, which
fed alfalfa and/or grain hays. My horses always seemed "fine"
to me. It wasn’t until I switched feeds that I noticed
the difference. I was fortunate in my last boarding situation
to be introduced to your feeds. The owner of the facility
was looking for a nutritionally consistent, palatable, high
quality alternative to hay that was cost-effective for her
and good for the horses. After extensive research and a meeting
between her clients and a representative of Elk Grove Milling
at her house, we all voted to feed Elk Grove Milling Stable
Mix.
That’s where this story begins. I noticed my horses
did well on this feed: it provided their nutritional needs
and made it easier to manage their weight at a more consistent
level. They even seemed to feel and look better. Three years
ago, when I was finally able to move my horses "home,"
I naturally decided to continue to use your product.
This past year, I have used Stable Mix, Stable Mate and
Get Go on a variety of horses of different ages and breeds.
In addition to keeping my 18 and 8 year old Morgan Geldings,
Bear and Cody, in excellent condition, it effortlessly kept
my 13 year old Morgan mare, Velvet, in top form throughout
her first pregnancy and lactation with no weight loss at all,
despite being regularly shown and trail-ridden until her seventh
month. Her colt, Morningstar, was less than a week old when
he started eating his mom’s food. He is now 8 months
old, eating Get Go and looking fantastic. Because the feed
is properly balanced for critical nutrients, I don’t
have to worry about developmental joint diseases like epiphysitis.
He has great legs and clean joints. In July I rescued a twenty-something
Paso Fino gelding. Poor Tenampa was about 100 pounds underweight
and under-muscled. Today he has his old fire back, not to
mention a good cover over his ribs. He has no clue that he’s
an old timer, as he routinely out-performs younger horses.
In early November I bought a 2 ½ year old Morgan gelding
and put him on Stable Mix. He’s lost that "grain
high" that he had when I bought him but none of the bloom
of a well-fed young horse. Finally, about 3 weeks ago I came
to the rescue of a yearling Peruvian Paso gelding. He had
been fed alfalfa/oat hay cubes and was not technically undernourished,
but I am amazed at the significant changes in his appearance
since I began to feed Stable Mix. He is looking better all
the time and should be an awesome riding horse in a couple
of years.
So what’s the moral of the story? You have probably
already figured it out: good feed makes good horses. From
8 months to 18 years, Elk Grove Milling products keep my horses
healthy and happy, which keeps me happy, too. Thanks.

Elk Grove Milling Testimonial:
Sir R H Maximilian has been on Elk Grove Milling feed since
he was weaned from his mother.
Max has always been a healthy horse. We have owned him since
he was five months old. We kept him on Get Go feed and oat
or grass hay from five months and transitioned to Stable Mix
w/oat or grass hay when he was two years old. Max has always
kept a beautiful glossy coat and kept a good weight in spite
of his busy schedule.
Max was started in the AQHA & PHBA show circuit as a
six month old. Max has been shown for five years, and has
traveled all over California, Nevada and once to Tulsa Oklahoma
in 1998 for the Palomino World Horse Show. In all of this
traveling he has not dropped weight or even been colicky.
This year we added breeding to his already busy schedule,
and still with only minor adjustments in volume he has maintained
his weight well. He has continued to show in PHBA & AQHA
shows in California and Nevada and has already qualified for
the Palomino World in 2001, this will be his 4th consecutive
year to qualify for the show. He is the High Point Palomino
Horse for the state of California for 1999 as well.
At three years old max had 7 months of cutting training and
shows promise in that area. He is a great trail riding horse,
he likes to go. He has a wonderful disposition for a stallion,
very sweet and gentle. Breeding this year has not changed
his disposition at all.
We are very happy with the results we have seen on our older
horses too. We have two horses over twenty with very little
tooth left and both of them maintain a great weight and very
shiny coats on Stable Mix. No one ever guesses that they are
in their golden years by the looks of them.
Thanks Elk Grove Milling for making such an awesome feed!
