Territory Sales Representative - Southern California Territory

Elk Grove Milling, Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of high quality, well known equine, livestock and poultry feed products, is seeking a qualified Territory Sales Representative to perform its Southern California sales and marketing activities areas also to include Fresno, Bakersfield, San Luis Obispo to San Diego.

The Territory Sales Representative conducts full cycle sales activities, from lead generation through close, in an assigned territory. Implements an agreed upon Marketing Plan which will meet business goals of retaining existing customer base and expanding new customer base in the marketing area. The Territory Sales Representative partners with the Management and support teams to achieve revenue goals, long-term account goals, and enhanced customer satisfaction consistent with our culture of ethics.

Responsibilities and Duties

Essential Functions

  • Meet or exceed quarterly and annual revenue goals.
  • Develop a territory sales plan that includes all target agricultural markets.
  • Monitor sales versus forecast on a monthly basis.
  • Manage Distributor, Dealer and end user relationships effectively to maximize sales and market share.
  • Train Distributors/Dealers on the proper use of Elk Grove Milling products
  • Develop strong internal working relationships with key Elk Grove Milling colleagues in Sales, Product Management, Product Development and key admin and R&D personnel.
  • Implement Distributor/Dealer demos where appropriate.
  • Attend show events and work booths
  • Participate, present, and/or display at key industry meetings.

Other Duties

  • Manage expense budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of outside sales experience with agriculture-related nutritional products. An accomplished sales background and proven track record in agriculture-related nutritional products sales. Equine and/or Equine nutrition experience is preferred.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have the ability and experience to sell a technical product
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the agriculture-related nutritional product market as a whole and how it relates to the distribution channel, large key users and other important centers of influence.
  • Must be self-motivated and should also possess a strong drive to succeed and an ability to work with minimal direction
  • Good computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are a must, written and verbal communication skills in Spanish as a second language a plus

Working Conditions:

Regional/local travel daily
Overnight travel 20% or less that will include out of state travel
Weekends as needed
